Description: Stunning intricate antique honeycomb Valentine. Large, die-cut piece, made in Germany.
The main element here is the beautiful large clock tower composed mainly of honeycomb. On one side of the base of the tower sits a young Victorian girl. At the other side sits a young cupid/cherub playing a mandolin.
Click the arrows above to see various angles. The last image shows the piece next to a soda can (not included) to give you an idea of the nice, large size of this lovely Valentine.
Text: (printed on the card attached to the honeycomb) To my Valentine. When the star of evening shineth, In the purple twilight skies, I recall the gleam responsive, In the starlight of thine eyes.
Approximate Size (in inches): 8 x 11
Condition: Here are the issues that I can see: The cupid is missing a foot; the girl is missing both feet: the tip of the mandolin appears to have been torn away; there are a few creases in some areas; it has the odor of old paper. Other than that, as far as I can see, it is in very good overall condition, but understand, it's possible I've missed something. Please view the images provided above to get a better idea of the condition. Lastly, the name Charles is printed in pencil on the reverse.
