1887 Antique Hand Colored Fashion Print ~ Visiting Costume

Beautiful old hand colored plate from L'Art de la Mode, an antique fashion publication. Victorian woman shown in Visiting Costume. Printed on cream color stock. Reverse side is blank.

Description of outfit:

Material of Ocean and Serpent gray camel's hair serge trimmed with placques of gray blue braid. The skirt is plain in front and plaited in broad side plates on the sides and back. The drapery on the right side is composed of two long Vandykes sewed to the skirt at the back, the entire length turning towards the front, the loose edge being finished with cord or rows of stitching. The drapery on the left is long and slightly fulled and joined to the back, forming a cascade on the side. Pointed basque with peplum and vest covered placques.
