Beautiful, detailed steel engraving from the picture by Thomas Faed. Here we see a family gathered on what may or may not be the eve of the Sabbath. The occupants of the cottage have assembled to hear "Words of Comfort" out of the sacred volume, which the master of the familyóa blacksmith, as appears by his apronóreads. Beside the old man is his wife, listening attentively to the narrative: the two younger females may be their daughters.
