This is the original cover of The Saturday Evening Post dated September 22, 1951. True Americana style cover depicts Police Officer Fred Vosatka, Sr. of the Westchester County Parkway Police standing in front of "Pete's Double Headers" enjoying a large ice cream cone. It is believed that the ice cream stand was located on Yonkers Avenue in the city of Yonkers, and that Officer Vosatka posed for the illustration in Ridge Road Park in the town of Greenburgh.
Artist/Illustrator: Steven Dohanos
Approximate Size (in inches): 10½ x 13½
Condition: Good to VG. Some wear at lower right edge.
This is the cover only . . . not the entire magazine.
Please note: Although we have given a very general grade for condition, please keep in mind that magazine covers suffer much harsher treatment than the rest of the magazine. After years of being handled and tossed around, it is likely that an old cover will show signs of wear including small rips, creases, discoloration/staining, edge chipping, general surface wear, etc. If there is anything more severe, we will note that in the description. It is also helpful to look closely at the picture(s) we have provided above to get a better idea of condition of this cover.
