This is the original cover of The Saturday Evening Post dated April 4, 1931. Gorgeous springtime art depicts a Pierrot playing a mandolin. Some butterflies flutter around him.
Artist/Illustrator: Elbert McGran Jackson
Approximate Size (in inches): 10½ x 13½
Condition: Very good. The background is printed in metallic gold ink . . . when held at an angle, there is a sort of visible runoff, possibly a printing error. It can be seen somewhat in the image we have provided above.
This is the cover only . . . not the entire magazine.
Please note: Although we have given a very general grade for condition, please keep in mind that magazine covers suffer much harsher treatment than the rest of the magazine. After years of being handled and tossed around, it is likely that an old cover will show signs of wear including small rips, creases, discoloration/staining, edge chipping, general surface wear, etc. If there is anything more severe, we will note that in the description. It is also helpful to look closely at the picture(s) we have provided above to get a better idea of condition of this cover.
