Title: The Spirit of Preperedness
Descriptive Text: They salute the flag, this gallant band who died that it might wave above their children,—the frontier scout, the Continental soldier and sailor, the brave fighters of 1812 and 1846, the boys of 1861, and bright in our remembrance, the Spanish War volunteers. They gave themselves to the service of their country, honorably, not counting the cost. They were our patriots. Can it be said that Americans today are less?
