This is the original cover of The Saturday Evening Post dated October 24, 1914. A woman sits at a table weeping after receiving a letter from the Red Cross while a little girl looks on shyly.
Artist/Illustrator: J.C. Leyendecker
Approximate Size (in inches): 10½ x 13½
Condition: Fair to good . Some discoloration at right edge. A small piece near the center right edge was torn and has been repaired from behind. Upper right corner is clipped slightly. Address label in header area.
This is the cover only . . . not the entire magazine.
Please note: Although we have given a very general grade for condition, please keep in mind that magazine covers suffer much harsher treatment than the rest of the magazine. After years of being handled and tossed around, it is likely that an old cover will show signs of wear including small rips, creases, discoloration/staining, edge chipping, general surface wear, etc. If there is anything more severe, we will note that in the description. It is also helpful to look closely at the picture(s) we have provided above to get a better idea of condition of this cover.
