This is Montgomery Ward's "Shopper's Primer," with selections from their new catalog (No. 70) dated September 1901. Small 20 page catalog (including front and back cover) measures 6¾" x 6".
Apparently, this was a small sample catalog enticing customers to order the larger one. The first page explains why they charge 15 cents for a catalog (because then only prospective buyers will get them, "thus preventing the enormous waste of expensive printed matter which has proved such a bugaboo to other houses"), and the second page notifies people that there will only be one catalog a year.
Still a wonderful little catalog that contains a small sample of furniture, sewing machines, shoes, the Windsor Steel Range, an Air-Tight Heater, an Automatic Revolver, the Windsor Washer, Mignon Dinner Set, Household Platform Scale, Madison Fountain Syringe, apron ginghams, LL sheetings, a Mackintosh coat, and the Windsor Organ.
Additionally, it still has the original stamped/addressed envelope the catalog was mailed in, the return envelope, the small order form (complete with a small envelope where you would insert your 15 cents, and a folded flyer with photos and short bios of the founders of Montgomery Ward.
Condition: Everything is in very nice condition. The catalog has a fold mark (it was folded to fit in the mailing envelope)
