Of possible interest to historians/genealogists in Dutchess County, NY. This is an old memorial booklet for the Rev. Cornelius Van Cleef who died at his residence on Sunday, June 13, 1875 at the age of 76. Van Cleef was the pastor of the Reformed Church at New Hackensack (I believe this was in Wappinger's Falls?) for 33 years. The funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Poughkeepsie on June 16, 1845. This original, antique booklet contains the sermon delivered by the Rev. A.P. Van Gieson, the pastor of the church, which contains a good deal of information on the life of of Rev. Van Cleef. Also contains excerpts of the address from the Rev. Francis M. Kipp of Stapleton, Staten Island (pastor of the church at Fishkill in 1836); remarks from Rev. Henry Ward, (Rev Van Cleef's successor); and the text from the newspaper obituaries.
