Original 19th century wood engraving that has been removed from an 1897 issue of Leslie's Weekly.  A black couple runs into trouble riding bare back at the circus when the mule gets frightened by a firecracker.

This is an original print (over 120 years old), not a reproduction. 

Reverse side contains unrelated text and/or art.

Subtitle:  George Washington Possum (through the fence) -- "I doan' need ter stir myself ter raise money fo' ter see de circus. It's gettin' it right heah."
