Beautiful old hand colored plate from L'Art de la Mode, an antique fashion publication. Victorian woman shown in Promenade Costume. Printed on cream color stock. Reverse side is blank.
Description of outfit:
Material of Queen's tweed and plain parma visite colored cashmere. Plain round underskirt of of cashmere over a petticoat of pansy colored velvet trimmed with buttons and cord. Long drapery of Queen's tweed opening on the right side and finished with cord and ornaments. On the left side it is slightly fulled to the edge of the basque, then drawn up in plaits at the back, throwing the fullness in the front. The back is draped high and full forming slight points at the bottom. The corsage is pointed in front and opens over a vest of tweed outlined with rows of small buttons with double collars and a cuff. The back is plaited and finished with revers of tweed, and corded.
