Original 19th century wood engraving removed from an 1886 issue of The Burlington Daily Free Press.
The Winter Carnival of Sports was typically held in Montreal, Canada. But due to a smallpox outbreak, the Canadian event was cancelled. Burlington, Vermont stepped in and decided to hold a similar Winter Sports celebration in their town. The event was held in mid-February, 1886. This engaging print depicts a Fantasy Parade featuring dancing elves, a jester, a dancing bear, and others.
This is a large, two-page, folio size print.
This is an original historical print (over 125 years old), not a reproduction.
